So, I am attempting to post about the road trip that my sweet hubby and I took to Texas. Just FYI this trip was back in May/June but hey, better late than never, right?
So, we got in the car and headed South . . .
We made time to stop and see the childhood home of President George W. Bush in Midland, TX. Do you want to know why this house was so special? Well, I'll tell you . . . it was the only home that had two president live in it. How about that?!
We went to San Antonio, TX and the first thing that we did was go to the temple. It was such a beautiful temple. It will always have a special place in our hearts.
The next day, we had to stop and see the Alamo. It was a little bit smaller than we'd both expected. No wonder it got taken over.
We had lunch at the River Walk. It was so romantical. (Yes. I know that's not a word)
And for the most important stop of the day. . . the AT&T Center where the San Antonio Spurs play. Much to my dismay, Tim Duncan, only my favorite NBA player ever, was no where to be found. Well, at least not in the parking lot. :)
After our time in San Antonio, we drove to a place called Runaway Bay, TX. We swam, watched tv (which is a treat for us because we don't have cable), went on walks, enjoyed the amazing Texas sunsets and enjoyed one another's company.
Next, we called Lance's little brother, Jonny and told him that we were going to pick him up in Mississippi (he was there for a wedding) and we headed that way. However, we wanted to make one last Texas stop at the Dallas temple. It was one of the most interesting temples that we had ever seen from the outside.
Once we picked up Jonny, we decided to find a hotel right outside of Memphis, TN. We almost stayed at a Super 8 that was going to charge us $76. That seemed a little steep to me since for the past week and a half Lance and I hadn't spent over $60. Instead we went across the street to the Lake Inn. They only charged us $50. However, it was a little bit scary (ok a lot scary) and I don't think that I would necessarily recommend it to anyone. Jonny will never let me forget that I made him stay at a motel where he wouldn't take his shoes off. When it was time to say prayers, I went to kneel at the foot of the bed and Lance and Jonny both grabbed me and said "NO." It was hilarious. Let's just say, we said our prayers ON the bed.

The next morning we headed into Memphis, TN to see Graceland where Elvis Presley lived.
I was so extremely excited.
Then Jonny started to get hungry so we decided we'd better stop. This is what happens when you've been in the car for a very long time . . . JK
We stopped in Nashville, TN! We had to drive by to see Belmont University so I could remember fondly my first year of college and then we stopped at SATCO for some grub. My college buddies and I went there all of the time. Oh, how I love Nashville!
Then we drove to Columbus, OH, to visit our good friend Alex. We stayed with him for two days and on one of those days, we went to the temple, only to find that they had closed it for a couple of hours. It sure looked pretty from the outside though!
From there, we drove the remainder of the way home, picked up our poochini with Grandma and Grandpa (my Marm and Mike) and had a nice relaxing weekend where we didn't drive anywhere!
