Somebody's Two!

Well as you know, our baby just turned two years old!
(sniff, sniff, wipe tear)

Here are the stats from his 2 year appointment. . .

Weight: 27 lbs 9 oz (42%)
Height: 36 in. (88%)
Head Circ: 50 cm. (81%)

It was so odd to see his stats show how tall and skinny he is.
I feel like every time that I look at him, he gets taller.

Here's a little bit about our two year old!

1. He talks like crazy--coherent sentences.
It is crazy to hear this little guy go on and on.

2. He can count to ten and sing the ABC song.
(His ABC song may be missing some letters from time to time.)

He knows all of the colors. Except for Gold, Silver and weird ones like that.

He knows all sorts of animals and surprises me with things like,
"Look Momma, a Sea Dragon." What?!
p.s. He was right. The said creature at the aquarium was in fact, a sea dragon.

He also knows the sounds that the animals make.
I personally love the snake. He says, "sss" and sticks out his tongue.

3. He is most recently obsessed with "Boy" things.
Cars, dumptrucks, and especially airplanes are some of his favorites.

He loves balls and throwing them at/to people.

He loves reading books. We read a lot of books.

4. He loves interacting with people and making them laugh.
He is quite the little comedian and knows how to work a crowd.

5. He has started the rebellion stage with many temper tantrums.
He is quite the "physical" little guy and gets in trouble quite often for
hitting and kicking Mom, Dad, Baby Appleseed, Tuya, etc.

6. If he does the said action and hurts someone around him,
he is extremely upset about it, and will try to love the
person, fetus, dog, etc with extra hugs and kisses.

7. His favorite foods are Peanut Butter and Jam sandwiches,
Macaroni and Cheese, and Pizza.
He really is a fabulous eater. He often eats as much as me.

8. He has started praying with Mom and Dad's help
and wants to be the one to pray for almost every meal.

He also loves to point out pictures of Jesus and the temple.

He also recognizes pictures of the Prophet and will tell you
that his name is President Monson. He will then start singing
"Follow the Prophet" and walk in a circle across the room.

9. He is such a happy little man. He smiles and laughs
constantly and fills every day with sunshine.

10. Just the other day we were in the car and he said,
"Hey Mom, I love you so much!"
I don't think that I could possibly love him any more!

He found a marker!

Sawyer is now tall enough to get to the markers.

I walked out of the room for literally two minutes while he was playing
with his trains intently on the floor, and this is what I returned to find.

Yes, I'll be moving the markers.

p.s. Did you notice the ginormous red bruise on his forehead?
The sidewalk hit him. What's a mom to do?
Yes, my son had a monster bruise and a Hitler mustache at the same time.
This proves that I shouldn't get the "Good Mom award" anytime soon.

p.p.s. He fell and got that bruise the same day I was supposed to take him for pictures. JCPenney was very understanding when I called to cancel. :)

Double Date in NYC

We were lucky enough to have Lance's brother Jonathan
and his cute wife Emery, come visit us for a week the end of August.

As a matter of fact, I picked Lance, Jonny and Emery up
at the airport on the 20th since Lance's flight coming home
from his Colorado rotation was delayed a day. (Boo hiss United!)

We had such a fun time with them. In addition to going to
Amish Country and seeing the Hershey sites, we let Sawyer stay
with Grandma Martin for a night and we pulled an over-nighter in NYC!

We went to see the Phantom of the Opera that evening.
I had seen it there in High School, but it was wonderful to see it again.
That music is pretty hard to beat!

And you have to see Times Square!

The next morning we went to see the Statue of Liberty.
I grew up in PA and had never been there.

She was amazing and it gave me chills thinking
about the immigrants feelings when they saw her
standing there in the Harbor. I heart the USA!

And I heart New York City!
Let me clarify. . . I heart visiting New York City!

After that we decided to head home because of Hurricane Irene
heading up the coast. We were glad that we did because only a few hours
after we left, they ordered people to evacuate the City. Crazy!

Although, Jonny and Emery had to endure the abnormal East Coast
Natural disasters (earthquake, tornado threats, and a hurricane)
we are so glad they came out. Hopefully it was a memorable trip!

Sawyer had a birthday!

Sawyer Lance Wood turned 2 on September 3!

Because of that, we've done a lot of celebrating.
We started off the celebrations with his "Friend" Party.

He has been obsessed lately with the beach
so I decided to make it the theme.

I loved how cute the cupcakes were.

And I turned our back porch into the ocean.
Well sort of. A good enough one for a two year old and his friends!

We had puzzles, books, and mini beach balls to keep his guests busy.

The beach bums partying hard.

He did much better this year with the Happy Birthday song.
He actually blew out both the candles all by himself!

And he really liked his cupcake.

Especially the icing.

We sure love him!

Good morning birthday boy!

Someone slept well!

Daddy made pancakes for breakfast.

And Sawyer LOVES pancakes!

Then the Family came.

And Grandma and Grandpa Wertz brought lots of food.
Thanks so much you guys!

And of course, there was a cake.

And more blowing of candles!

And a cake covered birthday boy.

Sawyer was lucky enough to have all of his grandparents there!

He was in a wonderful mood all day. He loved opening all of his presents.
Especially when he got his presents from Momma and Daddy.
We got him a baby doll, a baby stroller, and a book.

It was a special book announcing to his family
that he's having a BABY BROTHER!

Happy Birthday Sawyer!!
You are a happy, funny, busy little two year old now!!
And we love you so much!!
