Love Reu Forever

October 25, 2012

Today I happened upon one of the most tender experiences.
I looked over to see Sawyer hug Reuben and softly say,
"I love you little brother. I'll love you forever."

He didn't even know that I was listening
so I didn't want to make a big deal about it,
but I couldn't help but pause to thank my Heavenly Father
for allowing me to be a mother to these two angels.
I am so blessed to know that I have them to love forever
and I'm grateful that my sweet Sawyer Boy knows that.

I just can't imagine Heaven without these two...

Collecting Again

October 22, 2012

Today was another beautiful fall day.
So instead of doing laundry,
I took the boys outside to the field.

We were supposed to play frisbee.

But we ended up playing in the grass.

And collecting more leaves.

Reuben stood guard while Sawyer and I
filled the stroller full of colorful leaves.

See...Stood guard.

Hopefully we have many more
beautiful fall field days yet to come!

It Was Time...

October 20, 2012
...to give Reuben a Haircut.

We were getting a little tired of,
"She is so beautiful. I love her hair!"

When a kindhearted woman said that very thing
on a day that he was wearing a blue shirt with a football on it,
we decided that we couldn't hold out until he was a year old.
It was time for our baby's first haircut!
So tonight was the night!

BEFORE:

DURING:

Lance always wants to cut their hair since his Dad cut his.
It's kind of cute. Besides, then I get to take the pictures.
Important pictures like this!
Look at how long the back is when it's wet!
Can you say curly mullet?!

We turned on a little Baby Signing Time
while Daddy snipped away.

It kept Reuben occupied--
that and the comb that he snatched from his Dad.
Good thing we had another non-chew-toy one for Dad to use.

Cutting the back...

Goodbye mullet.

Cutting the top...

The casualties...

Oh you thought that was it?!
There was a lot of hair on the ground
for a Baby's First Haircut!

He seemed pleased with the outcome.

But we had to make sure it looked ok dry.
So Daddy got the blow dryer!
This picture makes me laugh SO hard!
Between the beautiful blowing locks,
the proximity of the blow dryer to his cute little face,
and both of their facial expressions, I just can't take it!

AFTER:

 Our handsome little BOY!

 Great job Daddy!

My Collector

October 18, 2012

It was such a beautiful fall day today.
So instead of cleaning my house, I took the boys out to the field.
We went out to play ball.

But Sawyer decided that he wanted to collect leaves instead.

Reuben enjoyed watching him.

It was one of those peaceful, beautiful moments
where everything was right with the world.

Fall Festival

October  13, 2012

Tonight we went to Rohrbach's Farm Market
to attend their fall festival. It was a lot of fun!

They had free hayrides.
(That we opted out of because of the cold wind)

And a few little rides.

Some tasty chicken pot pie.

And funnel cakes.
Of which I have sadly realized that I don't really enjoy anymore.
This goes against my PA Dutch upbringing.
I'm so sorry Marm. Don't hate me! JK!

They also had some chickens that you could feed.

While looking at the chickens,
Sawyer met a new friend named Ben.

They played together for about 15 minutes
until their evil parents tore them apart.

There was another cute little gal there,
but when Sawyer said hi, she ran away.

Oh, and they had pumpkins!

Sawyer got caught putting pumpkins into a stranger's cart.
When we all started laughing, he yelled "Stop!"
and ran over to this bench and pouted.
He gets really upset when he thinks people
are making fun of him. My poor little sensitive boy!

But then I told him that he could put his favorite pumpkins
in our cart instead and he came back around.

It was a beautiful night--cold, but beautiful!

p.s. We got some apple dumplings to take home
and they were sooo good!

Gaga for the Gardens

October 5, 2012

This past year Lance got two free tickets to the Hershey Gardens.
Since we didn't get a chance to use them while we lived in Hershey,
we decided to make a day trip down today as soon as Lance got off work.
We got there around 3 and stayed until it closed at 5--perfect amount of time!
And it was the perfect day to go since it was 75 degrees and sunny.
We all had such a wonderful time!

This sign says, "Sourwood" so we told
Sawyer to go over and make a grumpy face.
Get it, Sourwood? Well we think we're funny!

It was hard to drive away from Hershey.
We still love it so much!
