It Was Magical!

January 26, 2013

Trip to Florida
(January 20-24, 2013)

Daddy and Deb own a condo in Florida that they
spend a lot of time at during the frosty Pennsylvania winters.
When they offered to fly us down to visit, we couldn't resist!

TRAVEL DAY
We flew out of Allentown, PA.
Allegiant Air doesn't allow lap infants to ride for free
so Reuben had his own seat. He loved it!
(I'm still struggling with his last hair cut. Grow hair!)

He had fun making faces
at the hot guy sitting behind us.
(Lance, obviously)

And Sawyer was an angel.
Thanks to his ipad from Grandpa and Grandma Wertz.
They sure spoil us! :)
Honestly, flying is a breeze now that we have
 that travel companion for Sawyer.
Well maybe not a breeze, but WAY better!

It was a beautiful evening in Florida and
we had a pleasant drive to Dad and Deb's condo.
It was so fun to see them!

ZOO DAY!

Sawyer was a little grumpy on the way to the zoo.

Ok. He was a lot grumpy.
So we stopped for some lunch on the way.
(He started smiling shortly after)

We made it to the Brevard Zoo!

Walking with Grandma.
You will notice that we put our human child on a leash.
You can judge me. I may have judged "child walkers"at one time too.
But Lance and I heard the most horrible story that brought us to tears
about an incident that happened this year at the Pittsburgh Zoo
involving a 2 year old boy, a fall, and wild dogs. Enough said.

Huge Tree

Funky Flower

The zoo was having a special bird show.
They had a snowy owl there. I met Hedwig!

We got to see a Bald Eagle up close.
It was more magnificent in person.

Sawyer signing bird.

We saw the "fastest cat in the world"!
(The cheetah)

Grandma and Grandpa got the boys each a book
about safari's at one of the shops by the safari ride.
Reuben played with his right away!

The safari ride!
(Is it me or does Sawyer look exactly like Lance?)

Ready for the cutest picture ever?!
Ah, a magic moment caught forever.
Love it!

Reuben was happy as can be during the ride.

He kept making goofy faces at us.

Sawyer also loved it, but he was very serious!

I think he enjoyed the coin game at the exit almost as much.
Kids!

And we can't forget the Florida Gators!

Have you ever seen an alligator's smile?

Sawyer smiling like an alligator.

It was a fun day!

DISNEY WORLD!!
We went to the Magic Kingdom for the day!

Main Street, USA!

Cinderella's castle.
Sawyer finally agreed that it was probably too girly
to be Mickey's house--which is what he had insisted it was
when I would show him pictures before we left for vacation.

I love this statue of Walt Disney holding Mickey's hand.

We saw the parade.

Sawyer kept waving to all of the characters that went by!
He loved it! Reuben was content too.
He just ate some bread and watched the parade.

First we went on the train ride
which I sadly don't have any pictures of.
Then Sawyer, Lance, and I went on the Flying Dumbo ride
while Grandpa and Grandma watched Reuben.

We came off the ride and got another shot.

Then Sawyer and I rode Alice's teacups.
We had sooo much fun. Sawyer loves to spin. YESSS!!!
Neither of us wanted to get out. We wanted to spin more!

And we had to go on It's a Small World!
I love that ride!

The Gang

It was a beautiful evening!

And a magical night!

There was a beautiful light show at the castle where they
used the castle as a backdrop for this musical light presentation.
It was all about wishes coming true. There was a part
with a little girl's angel voice singing that brought tears to my eyes.
It was very memorable for me.

However, Reuben's shrieks of joy during
the fireworks show was pretty memorable as well.

But the most memorable part for Sawyer was...
Meeting MICKEY MOUSE!!

It was such a magical time!

 PLAYGROUND DAY

Seeing as the day before was pretty busy,
we had a nice relaxing day where we had a pizza picnic
at a beautiful park next to the water with a fun playground.

It was sad to leave the following day,
but we felt lucky to be there for the short visit that we had.

Thanks so much for the magical trip Grandma and Grandpa!
We love you so much!!

My Little Sunbeam

January 6, 2013

Jesus Wants Sawy For a...

SUNBEAM!!!

I can't believe that my Baby Sawyer is in Primary at church now!

I was lucky enough to be his nursery teacher
and even luckier that they moved me up to teach Sunbeams now!
So as a tender mercy from the Lord, I get to be with my baby in Primary!

As much joy as it brought me to watch his face beaming
as the Primary president chose him to hold up a picture in the front,
it makes me sad to see him grow up so fast.

Oh, how I love my precious Sunbeam!

Party for our Prince

January 5, 2013

Today was our Golden Birthday Boy's
 Golden Birthday Party!

THE CAKE
I wasn't thrilled with the "Gold"
(that looks like yellow to me) writing icing.
If I would have known that it wasn't gold
I would have used dark blue.
Oh well! Reuben didn't care so I shouldn't either.

THE DECORATIONS

THE ROYAL FEAST
in honor of our Prince

Ham, Macaroni and Cheese,
Broccoli and Cheese Casserole,
Rolls, Homemade Applesauce and fruit.

"Thanks for providing most of the feast Grandma Martin!"

I made pizza crowns for the kiddos since the
train pizzas were such a hit at Sawyer's party.

DECORATING CROWNS
for the princes and princesses in attendance.
(I love how Sawyer wouldn't stop
for 5 seconds to look at the camera)

What adorable royalty!

CAKE TIME!
A little nervous about the flame!

PRESENTS

He got a lot of great Golden Books
for his Golden Birthday!

And Daddy and Momma got him
The Little Prince books and a little prince doll.

It was a lot of fun!

I look so exhausted in this picture.
I was up a little too late trying to make his
Golden Birthday Party Perfect.

Thanks for coming everyone!
Happy Birthday Prince Reuben!
