Hey Santa

Sawyer is NOT afraid of Santa.
On the contrary--he's quite fascinated by him.

All month long he has been pointing to all of the Santas in our home and saying "San!" So when the time came for him to meet the Merry Figure at our church Christmas party, he was ready! He literally ran to him saying "San" and then allowed us to plop him into Santa's lap. He didn't even flinch. He just watched Santa closely and kept touching his beard. However, after a few brief moments, he was bored and continued on his busy way.

We also got dressed up to see the Santa at Bass Pro Shops.

Ho Ho Ho!

Man vs. Beast

Sawyer is now tall and clever enough to climb onto the couch.
There is no refuge for our sweet pup now.
Saying that Tuya is a good and patient dog
is quite the understatement.

p.s. I did put the camera down immediately
after taking this picture, to rescue her.

Between Sawyer's hugs and Tuya's kisses,
this man and beast coexist quite well!

15 Months Old!

Sawyer had his 15 month doctor's appointment today.
Here are the stats:

Height: 32 in. (80%)
Weight: 24.9 lbs (55%)
Head Circumference: 19 1/4 in. (97%)

So what is new with my 15 month old?
I need to write this stuff down because
I know I'll forget if I don't!

#1. He is communicating like crazy,
verbally,
and with sign language.

He knows (and uses) the signs for. . .

Please, Thank You, Sorry, Food (Eat)
Water, Milk, Cracker, Banana
Cereal, Juice, All Done, More
Baby, Hat, Ball, Wash Hands
Book, Day, Outside, Rain, Snow, Sun
Sky, Stop, Bug, Fish, and Phone

Whenever he makes these signs, he'll say them too.
(Usually the beginning of the word)

His favorite things to say are of course, Mama, and Dada.

He also really enjoys telling everyone "Bye!"
(Which can be embarrassing yet helpful at the same time!)
However, his favorite person to say "Bye" to is Dad.
He yells it over and over while Daddy
walks to the car in the morning. "BYE DA!"

He also likes to say. . .

Hi, Moon, Star, Flower, Tree
Shoe, Sock, Grandma, Grandpa
uh oh, ouch, hot, cold, sing, dance, soft,
boog (as in booger, gross I know)
uck (usually after boog) and
Slam(with balls at his hoop)-Dad taught him that.
and his latest is Santa--more of Sana
(I'm probably forgetting some)

He'll point to these places on my face and say. . .

Nose, Eyes, Mouth, Ears

He also LOVES animals!
And loves to tell me what they say.

Like. . .

Dog-Ruff Ruff
Cow-Moo Moo
Horse-Neigh Neigh
Sheep-Baa Baa
Kitty-Mow
Chicken-Bak Bak
Frog-Rib Rib
Lion-Rar
Bee-Bzz
Bird-Tweet
Rooster-Coo(in a rooster way)

He also knows these animals
but won't tell me what they say. . .

Bunny, Pig, Duck, and Bear

#2. He's a spiritual little guy.

He still loves to point to any picture of Jesus and Say "Jesus."

He is loving all of the Nativities in our home
and likes to point out the Mama, Dada and Baby.
He thinks it's so neat that Jesus was a baby.

He also started saying "Amen" every time after we pray.

#3. He's a loving little boy.

Although he will never be a snuggler,
he's gotten much more affectionate.
He's constantly giving me hugs and kisses.
He loves to blow kisses.
Let's just say, he's already a pathological flirt.
I'm in BIG trouble.

#4. Although he is constantly moving,
he will sit still to read books.
He LOVES them!!

Some of his favorites are. . .

The Very Hungry Caterpillar-Eric Carle
Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you see?- Eric Carle
Goodnight Moon- Margaret Wise Brown
Are You My Mother?- P.D. Eastman
Hand, Hand, Fingers, Thumb- Al Perkins
Touch and Feel Farm Animals- Baby Einstein
Windows to Color- Baby Einstein
Clifford the Big Red Dog-Norman Bridwell
Little Cricket's Song- Joanne Barkan
and In My Pond-Sara Gillingham

However, there are probably 50 or so books
that we rotate through that he loves!

#5. He's more fun and handsome than ever!

Snip Snip

Although my son rocked the mullet harder
than Billy Ray Cyrus 15 years ago,
the time had come.

Goodbye to,
"She is so beautiful."
and
"I love her curls."

Sawyer got his FIRST haircut tonight!

BEFORE:

Lance's dad always cut their hair,
so Lance really wanted to cut Sawyer's.
So here's Daddy doing the honors. . .

AFTER:

It looks great. Strong work Dad!
Why didn't we do this before?!

p.s. I may or may not have saved a tiny lock of his curly hair. :)
