Daddy's Birthday

February 12, 2015

On his birthday two years ago, my hero had his first
chemotherapy treatment at the Cancer Center in Chicago
and I missed him so much. Words can't describe
how much I missed him this year on his special day.

I tried to make it special for our family...

I made his famous venison (I substituted beef) roast,
a cherry crumb pie, complete with a candle and a birthday song,
and a game of pin the antlers on the deer.
Daddy's birthday party was a success
(even if I didn't make it through the birthday song).
This man deserves to be celebrated!

Happy Birthday Kris

We celebrated early before Marm went on her vacation,
but then Deb, Celena and the kids and I surprised her
the following week on her actual birthday!
My sweet baby sister is 29!

Belated Birthday Boy

December 5, 2014

Since his birthday was the day of Sean and Ariane's reception
while in Utah, we didn't get much of a chance to celebrate
my sweetie's big day. So we celebrated tonight.

Happy Birthday Lance!

A Little Critter Birthday Party

November 10, 2014

Yesterday after church we had Quincy's birthday party.
Because Quincy (especially his hair) reminds us of Mercer Mayer's
little critter, that was the theme for his party.

He didn't want to have anything
to do with his Critter cake.

So we gave him a break and made a little critter craft.

Then we played some games
and sang some little critter songs.

Then he got to open his gifts.

He had fun playing with them.

We're so grateful to everyone
who came to celebrate with us!

Later that night, after everyone else had left,
we tried giving him the cake again.
As soon as he would see it, he would start to cry.

Lance tried to distract him.

But as soon as he'd see
that critter cake, he'd cry again.

It was quite sad.

As soon as we'd take the cake away,
he'd be back to normal.

So today we tried just cutting him a piece of the cake
so it didn't look like the critter and he devoured it
with a big smile on his face. So yes, the cake
I made terrified my poor little son. Pretty funny, huh?!

I'm glad he's already gotten over it. :)
Happy Birthday Little Quincy Critter!
We love you so much!

Montessori Birthday Celebration

September 23, 2014

Sawyer's school does a special birthday celebration
and I was able to go to be with him today at school.
I made this poster to show a lot of the special things
that he has accomplished in his special little life.
Making this took FOREVER!

He walked around the candle (sun) holding the earth
5 times since he just turned 5!

Then he blew out his candle

And he got to sit in a special chair for the rest of circle time.

I love this boy so much!

I tried to stay for lunch to eat with him,
but it was a little bit of a disaster.
Reuben kept getting out of his chair and running
around and the baby was really fussy.
Poor Sawyer. But luckily, he's pretty easy
to please and still seemed happy that we came.
I'm so blessed to be his momma!
