Please

Since Sawyer was about 4 months old or so, I've been teaching him a tiny bit of American Sign Language (Thanks to Baby Signing Time for teaching me!).

I'm pretty sure that for awhile now, he's known what a few of them mean like Milk, Eat, More, All Done, and Please. However, he had yet to physically sign anything.

Until now!

Last Tuesday, coincidentally the day he turned 11 months old, I was eating corn for dinner and apparently he wanted some. He looked at me with those big baby blues and I asked him "Can you say please?" (Making the sign myself)
Well apparently he could! He signed "Please!"
I was so excited and even though I thought that it might be a fluke, encouraged him to do it again for another piece of corn. Guess what? He did it! And proceeded to do it six more times.

Since then, he has consistently signed "Please" anytime he wants something. And seeing as he looks so cute rubbing that chubby little hand on his chest, he is unfortunately getting pretty much everything that he wants right now--whether it's food or being picked up. I don't even have to say the word now. I can just say "What do you say?" and he'll do it.

So the purpose of this post is to prevent me from bursting with pride by giving me an outlet to brag about how incredibly intelligent and polite my sweet little boy is!

Strong Work Sawyer Boy! We are soooo proud of you!
