February 22, 2015

 What I was hoping for...

The Outtake, which I like even more...

I love these boys!

Wild Things

Life is NEVER dull.

Eloquent Sawyer

February 15, 2015

This handsome little man gave a talk today in Primary.
He proudly got up and said by memory,
"We beleive that through the Atonement of Christ
all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws
and ordinances of the gospel."
He then gave his talk all by himself by pictures
and memorization. I'm so proud of him!
Couldn't be more grateful to be his momma!

Sawyer and His Ruby

February 14, 2015

Sawyer's best friend from his pre-school had her birthday
party today at Discovery Space Museum. It was a great time!
Happy Valentine's Day!

Teacher Valentines

February 13, 2015

Although his Montessori preschool didn't have the children
do Valentines, I wanted his teachers to have something special.

Daddy's Birthday

February 12, 2015

On his birthday two years ago, my hero had his first
chemotherapy treatment at the Cancer Center in Chicago
and I missed him so much. Words can't describe
how much I missed him this year on his special day.

I tried to make it special for our family...

I made his famous venison (I substituted beef) roast,
a cherry crumb pie, complete with a candle and a birthday song,
and a game of pin the antlers on the deer.
Daddy's birthday party was a success
(even if I didn't make it through the birthday song).
This man deserves to be celebrated!

Happy Birthday Kris

February 11, 2015

We celebrated early before Marm went on her vacation,
but then Deb, Celena and the kids and I surprised her
the following week on her actual birthday!
My sweet baby sister is 29!

My Cart

Sledding

January 31, 2015

Yesterday we went sledding on the hill in our development.
It was fun! Cold, but fun! :)

Happy Helpers

January 30, 2015

When you help mom shovel
(aka-play in the snow while mom shovels)
you get hot chocolate and graham crackers.

Sweet Sawyer

January 29, 2015

Kind-hearted is right. Since my Daddy's passing I have good moments and hard moments. Yesterday was one of those days that seemed to be filled with hard moments. While his little brothers napped yesterday Sawyer came to my room and found me crying. He said, "I know why you're sad mom. It's because your Dad died. " Then he proceeded to give me a hug and kiss.

That night his bedtime prayer consisted of this, "Dear Heavenly Father, I thank thee for my warm home. I pray that I can always remember Grandpa Wertz and pray that Mom can have a happy day tomorrow. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen."

Let's just say I'm not really worried about his emotional development.
Momma gives him an A+.

Stunning Sunrise

January 29, 2015

There are a few positive things about having early risers.
This was completely unedited.

When Mommy Comes Home

January 24, 2015

I don't leave the house often,
so when I do I am missed. :)

But although I have three Momma's boys,
I think Tuya is a Daddy's girl.  :)

Sawyer the Skier

January 23, 2015

It was his first time and my second,
but we all had a great time!

Car Sledding

January 21, 2015

Reuben wasn't a huge fan of the car sledding, but Sawyer and I loved it.
I laughed and it felt good. I haven't been doing that much lately.

Daddy's Closet

January 16, 2015

Everything color coordinated.
And short sleeves come before long sleeves, of course.
Oh, how I love his organized self.

And if you find a pair of shoes you really love,
it's best to buy in bulk.
(I do this same thing. Well I only buy one extra, but still...)

So grateful for "my girls" who had dinner waiting for me
after a physically and emotionally taxing day.

I Dreamed a Dream

January 14, 2015

I dreamed a dream. It was just the two of us back before he got sick.
We were laughing and talking. I could hear his voice so vividly.
It felt so real. Then, Reuben called for me and he was gone.
My heart hurts today.

Angel Friends

January 11, 2015

I felt so blessed at the love and support I was given
by my family and friends during such a difficult time.

I had dear friends travel from Maryland
and NJ to surprise me at Daddy's service.

And then I had these two surprise me and come from Kentucky.
One of these angels is one of my only friends
who truly knows what it's like to lose a parent.
It was no accident that we became friends.
They came back with me to my house that night.
They listened to me and cried with me.
I love them and will always be grateful for them.

Daddy's Memorial Service

January 10, 2015

Celena and Russ shared sweet stories and memories.
Kristie read a beautiful poem she wrote.
Sawyer sang "Families Can Be Together Forever"
I sang "You Raise Me Up"
(The song Daddy listened to every morning
to motivate him when he was really sick.)

God blessed me to get through it.
Such a hard day.
Such a beautiful day.
